It is important to have your images properly sized and optimized when using them on the web. Photoshop has a special feature for compressing the file size for quickly loading images on web pages.
1. Open your image in Photoshop. On the top menu go to; Image > Image Size.
2. In the Image > Image Size window make sure the resolution of the image is 72 pixels per inch (ppi). After you make sure the resolution is set correctly change the size of the image to whatever size you need it to be. I am setting these at width: 388 X height: 291 then click OK.
3. It is now time to save the image. Under File in the top navidation bar click on Save For Web.
4. A new window will open. On the right side of that window choose the type of file and the quality you would like. I choose the file type to be JPEG and the quality to be Medium. Click Save and save your image to your computer.
FYI For most pictures you are saving for the web these are the most common settings.
