It is a well known fact search engines have taken a turn toward local market search. The more sophisticated the search algorithms get, the more targeted search results you will end up with. There are many ways search engines can target searchers results for them without you realizing you are being targeted. For instance, you can be targeted through your IP address, your Google account (if you are logged in), previous searches just to name a few. So what does this mean for local marketing?
If you own a business that will benefit from local advertising then you can benefit from optimizing for local search. The optimization process for local search is almost identical to optimization in general except for one small easy to implement factor. Add a location to the existing key words you already use.
Locations can be towns, areas, states, cities, counties, or any other Geo-targeting factor people will use to search.
The influx of mobile devices has spawned an even greater need for localized search results. Ask yourself, how often do I search on my mobile device for local businesses? I’ll bet if you own a smart phone or pad you use it at least several times a week if not several times a day to search local businesses.

There are other ways to market locally. Getting your business listed in Google places is one of the easiest and most effective marketing  implementations you can  use. It’s easy and free to sign up for a Google account. Once you sign up go to Google Places and add your business. Your business can instantly be verified through a phone call or you can have a postcard mailed directly to your business address. Once you have the verification code insert it into your Google Places account and your listing will appear within a couple weeks. It’s that easy.

Those are just a couple ways to market locally. There are many many ways to have your business found online locally. If you own a business and are not familiar with the implementation of these methods and would like a quote to have DeZineZone implement these local methods of marketing for you, feel free to give us a call at 716-578-0475 or contact us through our online form. Everyone wants to make money. Right? Well people make money, and lots of it everyday on the Internet. One way to monetize your own personal websites and blogs is through advertising for other people on YOUR OWN websites and blogs. The ad to the left is a Google Adsense. Adsense Ads help  pay for the operation of this blog. Google has a program just for that purpose. It’s called Adsense. Anyone that has a Google account has probably at least heard of Adsense. If your don’t have a Google account you can get one here.

Personal sites can include your own unique url website, blogs, or just ezine articles that you publish with good relevant information that people would be interested in. Good content is key to any ad campaign.

How it’s done

In plain easy to understand terms I will describe the process.

The three elements you will need are an Adsense account through Google,, a web page to put your content on, and GOOD CONTENT. I can’t stress enough the importance of good content.

To get an Adsense account you need to have a Google account. Get one here
Then sign up for the Adsense account.. You must be approved and it takes a few weeks.

If you own a web page, blog, or website you already have a place for your content. If you don’t, you can get Blogger at Google . Blogger is  free blogging software  that you can create pages with. Blogging is nothing more than a web log of information.

If you prefer a more professional blogging platform such as WordPress you can get it here. The software installation is free with your paid hosting that you can get here.

Once you have your content written you can go into your Adsense account and and create your ads to place on your pages. When you are done with your ad type the html code will be generated. Insert the generated code into your pages and your done.

It is important to understand to ramification of having your site hosted on a shared server that has sites that are black listed. Sites can get black listed for many reasons but the most relevant is being a spammer.

If your site is on a shared web site server with other websites that are black listed, your site will also be black listed due to having the same ip address.

To avoid this scenario you may want to check your domain or ip  address. If you find your site is black listed you may want to find a new web host company.

The web has changed and so has the way Google indexes and serves up web pages. Read the evidence in Google’s official webmaster blog.

http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2010/06/our-new-search-index-caffeine.html

After reading this article in Google’s blog you may have a better understanding of the importance of real-time relevant information that comes from regularly updated sites such as news sites and BLOGS.

Yes, blogs have become a very important factor in SEO for your main site. Creating links in your blog that relate to information in your main site can be very beneficial not only to the indexing of your blog but also the indexing and positioning (SERPS) of your main site also through relevant linking.

Social media has also become a perfect place for search engines to index real-time relevant information also. Many people build main websites and never change content. This means the information in these pages can become outdated and not as relevant as information posted in a twitter post, on a facebook fan page, or on your linkedin pages.

The Caffeine update is complete and will change the way your pages are indexed and ranked in the search engines.

What effect did the June 2010 Toolbar Page rank update have on your site? I have noticed one odd effect. Several of my sites have had no change in pagerank and also have more traffic but many of the pages that used to be cached are no longer cached.

I will be keeping a close eye on this and what long term effect, if may have if any it may have on the overall SEO in the SERPS. There may be absolutely no negative ramification but it could be a sign of something on my personal sites that could prove to be detremental in SEO of those sites.

I have not seen anything of this sort on any client sites as of yet. If you have had similar issues with sites we would like to hear about it.
